Mission:
"Promote the development of quality, affordable housing by Georgia's
not-for-profit housing developers"
Primary Goal:
G-STAND represents, as one voice, the interests of experienced
not-for-profit developers to address public policy, increase resources, and
impact practices
that affect their ability to provide housing for Georgia’s low- and
moderate-income households.
What is G-STAND’s purpose?
Significantly increase public awareness of
the substantive role played by not-for-profit developers in addressing the
housing needs of low- and moderate-income
citizens
so as to attract greater resources, obtain a more supportive regulatory environment,
and identify government and private sector partners that are also committed
to greater quality housing production.
Examples:
- Make comments and attend hearings regarding public resources available
to produce affordable housing.
- Comment on proposed regulations and/or administrative
practices that impact the affordable housing industry.
- Produce a summary of
legislative bills that are proposed or have passed through committees to
inform Association members of the potential impact on
their operations.
- Advocate for increased resources for affordable housing development
in Georgia.
- Collaborate with other statewide organizations with similar interests.
What
else will G-STAND do?
Develop materials explaining the impact nonprofit developers
have on improving their communities, and provide editorial material for the
media to bring
more attention to what G-STAND members are doing to produce housing and
the impact
that public policy has on their work.
Organize briefings and conduct
tours of housing development projects for policy makers, key legislative
staff, media, or philanthropists
to better
prepare them
to aid in the promotion of affordable housing.
